We were delighted to be commissioned to carry out the works above the Harvey Nichols store. The project was a contemporary roof top garden in Bristol city centre. At four storeys high from pavement level, all materials were crane lifted on Sunday nights due to limitations posed by heavy congestion during the working week.
The roof top garden was a feat of engineering, requiring skill and dexterity to develop. Beneath the completed paved and landscaped areas, lay complex geotextile drainage matts as well as 450mm insulation matts to reduce soil loading on the concrete slab below. Weight reduction was vital to protect the building so all paving was suspended by individual pedestals. The result was breath-taking and was testament to Mayflower’s engineering precision and creative flair.
